Before coming to this Vancouver Make-up School here in Vancouver Laurel Moore was working in the food industry as a line cook. At first it was something she thought she enjoyed, but before long she began to realize how tedious it really was and that it just wasn't for her. She knew it was time to make a change. A change that would help her land a career in a year. She knew that she wanted to find a school in Vancouver as travelling for her education was not an option. Knowing that she wanted to pursue a life in the Make-up industry gave her the motivation to break away from her comfort zone and explore other vocational opportunities.
Her decision to attend New Image College was not made in haste, as she did a great deal of research to narrow her options down to a final choice. Make-up had always been something that she was always interested in, so when she came across an ad for new image, she decided to send an email for more info on the programs offered. Within an hour she received a phone call from Charie, and set up a meeting to come see her. Upon arriving at the campus, she was pleasantly surprised with the comfortable atmosphere and pleasant staff of the school. After speaking with Charie, she soon found that the classes fit perfectly with her schedule, and the program outline offered everything she was looking for in a well rounded curriculum!
The registration process was very easy. Charie brought her in and went over everything that she would be learning, including a tour of the school, and even letting her audit (sit in) the current make-up class in session. After making her decision, Charie helped her fill out all of the required forms, and answered any pending questions.
Once her program began at New Image she found that she was learning everything she had been promised, from how to bring out the natural beauty in different facial structures, to photography, to how to make a bruise, or a prosthetic face. She was offered so much education to prepare her for the industry, and a majority of it first hand, on sets, fashion shows, and many events. None of which would have been possible without her instructors which were amazing! They kept things on a professional level, while at the same point, to a level of comfortability. They were always very supportive and very helpful. In a way it was like working with friends who were always keeping them on the same level and treating them as equals. She learned so much from her instructors while always receiving help and encouragement. If there were ever any concerns, they were able to approach them with ease. Marking was always fair, and honest, applying just enough constructive comments to push you to give everything you were capable of. Michelle and Ryan have helped her grow so much as a make-up artist, as well as a person
"Attending New Image was the best decision for me in so many ways. I feel that it has helped me find my direction, realize what I am capable of, and given me the confidence to finally have a career doing something that I truly love. Recently, since graduating, she was given a make-up gig from Charie, which was for a large production company known as Qube Films. When she arrived for the job, she was informed that she would be working on a Nike commercial. It all went very well and a few weeks later se began receiving more calls for more jobs, such as a commercials, a photo shoot, and a public service announcement ad concerning provincial cuts to arts funding.
In the next ten years she hopes to be successful, and working in the beauty industry. The education she has gained at New Image has given her so many opportunities with tons of support and experience from jobs through the school. She feels she has found her path in life and gained so much strength from the make-up field. She doesn't know exactly where she would like to be in ten years but does know when the right opportunity arises, she will have the confidence and experience to seize the moment.

Give it your all, don't be shy, take every bit of encouragement, every tip, and every opportunity with a grain of salt. You will be a much better at absorbing the information.
