As this is a stage reading and not a call for a play I am very open to phone calls and emails to answer any questions and discuss expectations. Ideally, I would like a resume. In review: 1. Call or email me. 2. Outcome of initial communication will determine if a resume needs to be sent. firstname.lastname@example.org
I Am Not a Girl is a story about a transgender male from early childhood to middle age. Her journey is tortuous and in her teen years she discovers she is a lesbian. Concurrent with this discovery she demonstrates rebellious behavior with her family and becomes deeply involved with drugs and intermittent crime.
After numerous relationships and indiscriminate sex she concludes that re-assignment surgery is the answer and wants to become a male .
The transition impacts everyone around her.
The narrative was written initially with the Fringe Festival in mind but like hundreds of others I was not successful in the draw. It was written using the monologue format. In this case it is not my story but the story of a mother/daughter and mother son.. This might change (or not) depending on the stage reading feedback.
FYI The intention is to produce a show in 2018. Budget has been established.
