How do I apply?

Applying to your favourite school for a career you have always dreamed of is exciting! A New Image advisor is just an email or phone call away to assist you with questions and help make the process achievable. Your application is assessed by the people that will be there every step of the way during your education journey and have your best interests in mind.

Please select the program date, review the admission requirements and fill out the application form. A New Image advisor will be calling you to get to know you better, discuss your goals, expectations, admissions and registration procedures within 48 hours.

  • Applicants must complete the entrance submission package.
  • Applicants residing in Canada must complete a successful audition/interview at the New Image campus. International and out of town applicants must prepare an internet audition/interview. International students must meet the English requirements (Have a level 3 or 4 of English and/or pass an English assessment.

Avant Garde Makeup Design

  • Applicants must have a certificate or equivalent (certificate from another makeup school) in the field of makeup artistry or a 500 word essay and portfolio describing in detail how you are self-taught.

The Cutting Edge – Advanced Prosthetics

  • Applicants must have a diploma or equivalent (diploma or certificate from another makeup school) in the field of makeup artistry or a 2000 word essay and portfolio describing in detail how you are self-taught.

Fee Payments

New Image College fees are payable in Canadian dollars and we accept Visa, Mastercard, email transfers, bank wires, cash and cheques.

Education is an investment that will last a lifetime. Financial planning is an essential part of the registration process and often the whole family may be involved.

New Image assists in this process of determining which financial option is best for each individual scenario and we offer payment plans with no interest due.

Application Fee

  • When you apply to New Image please include payment of your application fee.

Tuition Deposit

  • Once you have received confirmation of acceptance into your program of study, you will be asked to complete program registration forms. A tuition deposit will be required at this time to secure a placement in your desired course date. Tuition deposit amounts are determined during your financial planning with an advisor.

Tuition Balance

  • The balance of your tuition will be due as per your financial plan discussed and confirmed on your registration forms.

Financial Aid

During your registration process your advisor will discuss various options of methods to pay your tuition fees, and prepare you for everyday living costs and transit fees.

For certain methods of payment you may require a letter of acceptance. This letter will be issued to you once you have completed the registration process with your advisor

National Student Loans and Provincial Student Loan

Canada and Provincial Student Loans
Canada and Provincial Student Loans are available to Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents and landed Immigrants who are enrolled in a full-time program at New Image College.

The amount of funding you receive is based on the tuition, length of your program, fees, books, supplies, household income, available resources, marital status and other factors and reaches a maximum yearly level that varies province by province.

Student Lines of Credit

A student line of credit gives you access to funds to pay for school and other expenses. A line of credit is different from a loan because you take money out only as you need it and pay interest only on what you withdraw while you are in school making it a great option for Canadian students

Canada Registered Education Savings Plan

An RESP is a, tax-deferred, savings vehicle generally used by parents to save for their children’s post-secondary education.

Life Learning Plan (LLP)

LLP is a program that allows Canadian residents to withdraw funds from their Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs), without penalty, to fund their education. The LLP allows you to withdraw up to $10,000 per year (to a maximum of $20,000) for you, or your spouse, without the withdrawal being taxed. You have up to ten years to pay back your withdrawal.

To apply, you must have an official letter of acceptance for a full-time program from New Image College.

Wellspring Financial

Students can apply for funding through Wellspring Financial, a simple and affordable way to pay for your education. Note, approval and approval amounts are based on credit history.

Please read carefully the full text (and the fine print) of any contract in which you engage and be sure you understand it before you sign it. Refund Policies

1. A student may be entitled to a refund of tuition fees in the event that:

a. The student provides written notice to New Image College that he or she is withdrawing from the program; or

b. New Image College provides written notice to the student advising that the student has been dismissed from the program.

2. The written notice of withdrawal or dismissal may be delivered in any manner provided that a receipt or other verification is available that indicates the date on which the notice is delivered.

3. The notice of withdrawal or dismissal is deemed to be effective from the date it is delivered.

4. The refund to which a student is entitled is calculated on the total tuition fees due under the contract. Where total tuition fees have not yet been collected, the institution is not responsible for refunding more than has been collected to date and a student maybe require to make up for monies due under the contract.

5. If New Image College has received fees in excess of the amount it is entitled to under the student contract, the excess amount must be refunded.

6. Refund policy for students:

a. Refunds before the program of study begins:

i. If written notice of withdrawal is received by the New Image College within 7 days after the contract is made, and before the commencement of the period of instruction specified in the contract, the New Image College may retain 5% of the total tuition and fees due under the contract to a maximum of $250.

ii. If written notice of withdrawal is received by New Image College 30 days or more before the commencement of the period of instruction specified in the contract and more than 7 days after the contract was made, New Image College may retain 10% of the total tuition only due under the contract to a maximum of $1000.

iii. Subject to Section 6(a)(i) above, if written notice of withdrawal is received by New Image College less than 30 days before the commencement of the period of instruction specified in the contract, and more than 7 days after the contract was made, New Image College may retain 20% of the total tuition only, due under the contract to a maximum of $1300.

7. Refunds after the program of study starts:

a. If written notice of withdrawal is received by the institution or a student is dismissed before 10% of the period of instruction specified in the contract has elapsed, New Image College may retain 30% of the tuition due under the contract.

b. If written notice of withdrawal is received by New image College, or a student is dismissed after 10% and before 30% of the period of instruction specified in the contract has elapsed, the New Image College may retain 50% of the tuition due under the contract.

c. If a student withdraws or is dismissed after 30% of the period of instruction specified in the contract has elapsed, no refund is required.

8. Where a student did not meet the institutional and/or program specific minimum requirements for admission through no misrepresentation or fault of their own, New Image College must refund all tuition and fees paid under the contract, less the applicable non-refundable student application or registration fee.

International Admissions Information

Study and Work Permits

All international students enrolled in a program longer than 6 months must obtain a study permit prior to attending New Image College. In order to participate in any of the New Image Co-op programs and be able to work in Canada (which is an essential part of graduating successfully from a co-op program) you must also apply for a work permit.

After completing the application and registration process with your advisor, New Image will provide you with the following documents that you will need when applying for your study and or work permit:

  • Letter of Acceptance for the study period
  • Letter of Acceptance for the co-op period
  • Proof of tuition payment

Student authorization related withdrawals for international students

New Image College may retain the lesser of 10% of the total fees due under the contract or $400 for international students who are denied study permit authorization from Citizenship and immigration Canada. 

Students denied a study permit must provide the New Image College with a copy of the denial letter prior to the program start date as set out in the most recently issued Letter of Acceptance. Should a student fail to advise the institution, or choose to withdraw for other reasons, the refund policy set out in Section 6 will apply.

Medical Requirements

New Image International students are required to have medical insurance coverage while studying in Canada. Please contact your insurance provider to select the best coverage for you.

Once you have resided in British Columbia for 3 months you may qualify for BC medical coverage. Visit BC MSP  to obtain a copy of the application.

Accomodations

Vancouver is one of the most visited cities in North America, which is why we recommend starting your search for accommodations early (minimum 1 to 2 months before your arrival date.)

If you are a student looking to move to Vancouver, you could consider contracting a professional accommodation company such as Vancouver Homestay, a trustworthy agency that provides students with different options when looking for a place to stay (short or long term) while studying in Vancouver.

Vancouver Homestay is an accommodation agency that provides two different placement services, self search and full service search. Even though the fee for the full service search is higher, we recommend for you to invest in it to find the accommodation that suits your budget and your requirements the best. Fees are payable for any successful placement.
