PCTIA (Private Career Training Institution Agency)

PCTIA sets basic education standards for registered private career training institutions in British Columbia and establishes standards of quality which must be met by accredited institutions. PCTIA’s mission is to support quality education in British Columbia’s private post-secondary career training sector through regulating standards and providing protection to students.

EQA (Education Quality Assurance)

The Education Quality Assurance (EQA) designation is British Columbia’s brand for quality post-secondary education. The EQA designation is also used to promote B.C. as an education destination of choice and enables both domestic and international students to easily recognize institutions that meet or exceed quality assurance standards that the government recognizes.

UBCP / ACTRA (Union of BC performers)

UBCP/ACTRA have negotiated some of the strongest collective agreements for performers in the world to ensure engagers deliver the pay and protections that have been promised. CIC (Citizen and Immigration Canada)

All post-secondary institutions that accept international students on study permits will be required to have the EQA designation in order to be recognized as a ‘Designated Learning Institution’ with Citizen and Immigration Canada (CIC). The EQA designation requirements have been revised to include the British Columbia Standards for International Student Program. These Standards assure the integrity of the International Student Program and enhance British Columbia’s standing as a destination of choice for international students seeking a quality education.

Human Resources Development Canada (HRSDC)
