New Image College is happy to announce that one of Vancouver's premier writers/directors, Mr Jonas Quastel, who will be the guest director for the upcoming short film here at the college. He will be working closely with our group 22 acting students in efforts to write the script, plan the scenes and direct the short film. He has been preparing for his directorial debut at the number one acting school in Vancouver and is excited to get started.

Jonas Quastel is a multifaceted creative professional with almost 20 years experience in the world of dramatic feature film. Quastel lives in Vancouver, BC and works wherever movies take him.

He began his career in the lighting and camera departments with the intention of becoming a director of photography. While gaining onset experience he began writing screenplays and soon had a quick succession of films produced. They include:

"Crackerjack", with Nastassja Kinski and Christopher Plummer. "Listen" a thriller starring Brooke Langdon who later went on to headline "The Net" and “Friday Night Lights”. "Poltergeist: The Legacy" the renowned television series. Also, “Sub Zero” with Costas Mandylor and Nia Peebles.

Quastel’s directorial debut was "The Untold" (2002), starring Lance Henriksen and Andrea Roth (soon to star in "Rescue Me"). Also in the film was Erika (Parker) Durance, now Lois Lane on "Smallville", in her first lead role. Quastel wrote this one as well.

Next was "Ripper II" shot in Prague starring Erin Karpluk (also in her first lead role), soon after to headline the Canadian "Godiva's" and presently “Being Erica”.

Then, "Premonition" a suspense thriller with Casper Van Dien and Catherine Oxenberg.

Most recently, Quastel wrote and directed “Scourge” with Robyn Ledoux and Russ Ferrier (nominated for a Best Direction Leo award) and co-produced the CTV movie of the week “What Color Is Love?” with Jennifer Finnigan and Roger Cross.

Quastel is a currently writing and has a number of feature projects in development.
