
John Tench has been a professional actor for over three decades. During this extensive career he has travelled across the United States, Canada, and even Europe. He is classically trained, and has studied extensively in New York, London England, Europe, and Canada. He is a long-standing member of the Screen actors Guild, CAEA, UBCP & AFC.
In 1981, John founded the internationally renowned Theatre Kathartic which has produced dozens of original works, premiers and plays in Canada, England and Europe.
Among the plays he has directed of performed in are Suicide in B flat, Mad Dog Blues, The Jones Boy, Chekov’s Three Sisters, Billy the Kid, Savage in Limbo, Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Twelve Angry Men, Sleuth and multiple One Acts and Fringe plays.
He has also written a number of screenplays and is a published poet. John has over eighty film and television leads and guest starring roles including The Watchmen, Shooter, Brokeback Mountain, Comfort House, Blade, Earthsea, The winning Season, The Collector, DeadZone, U.C. Undercover, Carpool and Grizzly Falls, as well as regular roles on the critically acclaimed series Intelligence and Da Vinci’s Inquest, This Space for Rent, Godiva’s, Andromeda, The Crow, and Cold Squad.
John also teaches actors and directors and his credits include many years as an instructor at various institutions including the prestigious Corona Stage academy in London. He toured and taught throughout Ontario with the Artists-in-Schools in High-School programs. He has conducted and moderated numerous workshops in Canada and the United States. In Vancouver he co-founded and taught at the Film Actors Studio, Spirit Song Theatre, New Image College of Fine Arts, Vancouver.
